Statement
The group continues to pursue a proactive approach to health and safety. We are constantly reviewing and updating our policies and procedures to ensure all those employed by the group, either directly or indirectly, return safely to their homes after each day's work and to ensure our continuous compliance with all health and safety regulations.
We are fully committed to the objective of zero accidents within our workplace. The group has made good progress in reducing the number of reportable accidents during the year, which is especially pleasing when considering the increased activity of the contracting division during the period.
Additional resource has been allocated to the Safety, Health and
Environmental department ("SHE") to allow improvements to
site visits, risk assessment and specialist guidance when required.
Our efforts have been recognised by RoSPA again this year and we
were privileged to
receive a number of awards:
- RoSPA Silver - Pochin (Contractors) Limited
- RoSPA Gold - Pochin Concrete Pumping
Regular training is the key to making sure that all of our employees and those under their supervision, are equipped with the skills which will allow them to carry out their jobs safely. We have undertaken a major review to highlight any training needs which our staff and operatives may require to ensure the continued safety of themselves and those around them.
The Construction Services Division also operates an Occupational
Health and Safety Management System which complies with the
requirements of OHSAS 18001:1999, one of the first Plant Hire
Companies in the United Kingdom and the only Concrete Pumping
Company to achieve this.
